Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if the goods I order are out of stock?
A: If all, or part, of your order is out of stock, we will contact you by email or telephone within 24 hours to advise you of the anticipated delivery date or, if appropriate, an alternative. No funds will be taken from your card until you have responded and the goods are available for despatch. Of course, you may cancel your order if the expected delivery date is unsuitable.

Q: How do I know if the site is secure?
A: Whilst no system is foolproof, the platform that we utilise has no history of security breaches. We use 128-bit encrypted SSL technology for the collection of any customer details. This method is generally accepted to be more secure than many retail transactions when a card may be out-of-sight for a time. Our 'secure server certificate' details can be accessed by clicking the Verisign logo on any page. Additionally, your payments are actually handled by Sage Pay, the UK's leading online payments service. Sage Pay has the highest level of secure payment certification within the card processing industry.
At no time are your personal or card details held or transmitted in an 'open' environment.

Q: How can I be confident the first time I buy from you?
A: Cooks&Kitchens is a highly-regarded cookshop retailer that's also well-known within the housewares industry (voted "Britain's Best Cookshop" in 2005). Our successful online operation, Cooks&Kitchens Direct,  has been trading since early 2005 and has served thousands of satisfied customers. Cooks&Kitchens is a member of the 400+ membership Cookshop & Housewares Association.

Q: Can you deliver outside the UK?
A: At present, Cooks&Kitchens Direct only services UK & Eire deliveries. Please see our Delivery Information section for further details.

Q: What are the WEEE regulations?

A: The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items.

In the UK, distributors including retailers must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. As a responsible retailer, we have met the requirements placed on us by financially supporting the national network of WEEE recycling centres established by local authorities. This is achieved through membership of the national Distributor Take-back scheme (DTS). Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK’s fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with this symbol) in your bin. If you do not recycle electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

We’re proud to support your local authority in providing local recycling facilities for electrical equipment. To find your nearest recycling centre, visit the www.recycle-more.co.uk website and type in your postcode.
