Most glassware manufacturers actively discourage dishwasher use as, over time, virtually all glassware is damaged by dishwashers, either through breakage or ‘hazing’. The haziness is simply the result of caustic elements in dishwasher detergent pitting the polished surface of the glass. The new ‘Easy’ range of glassware from WMF is produced using ‘Aquadurit’ glass which resists pitting and keeps the glass surface clear for hundreds of wash cycles. In addition, each glass is treated with a strengthening agent during production. This strengthening is applied to the lip, the stem top and the foot, resulting in far fewer breakages. The range is also available in white wine, champagne flutes and highball tumblers.
